In 2007 I asked my friend and colleague, the designer Sandra Douglas, to take part in the first Postal Project book. We had met at college and worked together professionally in London, on and off, for almost thirty years. When I moved to the coast, I wanted to maintain some form of creative collaboration.
I came across 'Cats in Colour' in a charity shop in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex. Selected for its age (one year younger than us), the orange cloth bound cover, the quality of the paper and the flat richness of the photographic reproductions, the book shuttled between Hastings and London over a period of three years. Sandra, unknowingly, made the last entry on pp 22-23 shortly before her death from cancer.
